IRI EEYPL Workshop: Election Simulation Exercise
Dates: June 16-19, 2008 (TBC)
Location: Istanbul, Turkey

Participants in this workshop will undertake a two-day intensive simulation exercise of a presidential election campaign. Using the campaign, organizational, and leadership skills from previous EEYPL seminars, simulation participants will take on the roles of key players in a presidential campaign. Roles may include candidates, campaign strategists, members of the news media, and civil society activists. Participants will devise comprehensive campaign strategies, including: policy platforms, media plans, budgets, GOTV activities, and staffing and volunteer management. As with any electoral campaign, participants should anticipate unexpected surprises during the two-day simulation exercise. The ability to remain flexible and negotiate unanticipated events will be a crucial component of this simulation.

Participants will receive materials prior to arriving at the workshop; collaboration on strategy in advance of the workshop is highly recommended to make the simulation as beneficial as possible.

Deadline for applications: All application materials (application form, CV/resume, short answer responses) must be received by 18:00 Washington, DC time on Wednesday, May 7, 2008. Applications should be sent to Chris Walsh by e-mail () or fax: +1(202)408-9462.
