About the seminar

From December 5 to 9, 2007, the National Democratic Institute (NDI) and the International Republican Institute (IRI), together with the American Council for Young Political Leaders (ACYPL), are organizing the third Europe and Eurasia Emerging Young Political Leaders Seminar with funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The event will take place in Belgrade, Serbia.

As part of the organizers' mission to strengthen and expand democracy around the world, the seminar will bring together young political and civic leaders from more than a dozen countries in Europe and Eurasia. Participants will include elected representatives, political party leaders and activists, and members of civil society organizations. Over the course of three days, the program will offer workshops on effective political and civic activism and leadership, including the use of technology, to enable participants to acquire new skills, broaden their knowledge in their fields of interest, and make new contacts and friends. In addition to hands-on training in grassroots organizing, NGO management, campaigning, working with the media, communication technologies, and debate and negotiation skills, participants will be invited to discuss and contribute to this website, which will be managed by a regional host organization after the seminar.
