Purpose

Our goal is to establish a lively online community so we can learn from each other and invite others to join the conversation. Specifically, DemocraticYouth.net has been created as a forum for youth who are politically-active -- or politically-interested -- to share ideas, tools, and techniques for building democracy in our region.

Origins of this Site

This idea for this site came from with young European and Eurasian political leaders at a 2005 seminar in Lake Ohrid, Macedonia.  62 participants from 17 countries and regions gathered to share best practices, build relationships and develop specific action plans to encourage political and civic involvement among youth in their home countries.  In September 2006, participants in a political leadership seminar in Chisinau, Moldova built the Democratic Youth Network website during their four day program.

Anyone can post messages by registering for the site, and anyone can post comments without registering for the site. While DemocraticYouth.net is an open environment, we ask that you respect the other members of our community and post items that have direct relevance to the site's stated purpose.

While we have experienced sometimes profound changes in our countries in recent years, we are confident that some of the most vital changes are yet to come. Please join us.
