September 28, 2006

We, the young the people from Europe and Eurasia came together to explore and discuss the problems that each of our countries currently face in this fast changing world of today recognizing the unique role of youth hereby confirm our strong will to stand for the following principles presented in our declaration.

Our Declaration:

We the young political and civic leaders of Europe and Eurasia strongly believe in the advancement of democracy and its core values.  We all strive for the promotion of democracy all over our region and the world for a better future for all.

We strongly commit to the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.  It is essential to democracy flourishing in our countries and throughout the world.  We recognize that free and fair elections are the foundation of stable, free and just democracies.

We recognize that corruption is a major threat to the advancement of democracy and upholding the rule of law.  Corruption undermines our human rights.  As such, we commit ourselves to protecting democratic institutions from the ills of corruption and fighting against corruption at all levels of government and in all aspects of public life.

We believe that promoting civic education, youth participation in the political process and cross border dialogue among young leaders is a crucial component to securing our commitment to democratic values.

Furthermore, we believe that youth participation in all aspects of civil society is essential to a healthy democratic society.  Therefore, we encourage young people to raise up their voice against repression, corruption and totalitarianism.

To further our beliefs and our declaration, we commit to the following actions upon our return:

  • Create and Participate in Youth Civic and Political Education Programs
  • Organize Cross Border Youth Understanding and Cooperation
  • Recruit More Independent Minded Youth Candidates
  • Organize Multi-Party Youth Political Organizations
